Doctor Gerry Flynn graduated form Edinburgh University Medical School in 1982. He passed the examinations for Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 1985 and was appointed a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 1999. He has worked in Scotland, New Zealand and Australia where he has been a GP in Queensland for over 25 years. His interests include the health benefits of exercise, diet and sleep, and he has presented research on the Mediterranean diet in Kyoto and Queensland.

He played water polo for Scotland at youth and senior levels, and was a coach and referee for junior and schools water polo for many years. He enjoys ocean swimming in the warm Queensland climate as often as possible.
